San Diego moved four points clear at the top of the Western Conference, after substitute Tomas Angel's stoppage-time strike sealed a dramatic 3-2 victory over FC Dallas.

Mikey Varas' side secured their fourth straight win to establish breathing space at the summit, albeit having played two games more than second-place Vancouver Whitecaps.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 26th minute at the Toyota Stadium, Anders Dreyer sweeping home from the penalty spot after Onni Valakari was fouled by Patrickson Delgado.

Lucho Acosta saw a goal ruled out for offside following a VAR review, but Dallas did grab their equaliser just before the break, with Petar Musa pouncing on a loose Manu Duah pass and firing past CJ dos Santos.

Both sides had goals chalked off for offside before the hosts completed the turnaround in the 56th minute, as Sebastian Lletget stabbed home from close range after Musa was denied.

Substitute Hirving Lozano dragged San Diego back onto level terms with 13 minutes remaining, turning home Milan Iloski's low cross into the six-yard box.

And the visitors snatched all three points in the sixth minute of stoppage time, as Dreyer's centre was fired into the roof of the net by Angel.

Elsewhere, with Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union not playing until Sunday, FC Cincinnati moved within a point of them after a 2-1 victory over Orlando City.

Evander struck in first-half stoppage time and doubled his side's advantage in the 74th minute - taking his MLS tally for the campaign to 11 goals, while rendering Marco Pasalic's late strike a mere consolation for the hosts.

Nashville SC remained a point behind Cincinnati, after Sam Surridge's 16th goal of the season was enough for them to edge out D.C. United.

The most entertaining action of the day came at Gilette Stadium, where the New England Revolution produced a stunning fightback to earn a 3-3 draw against the Colorado Rapids.

Calvin Harris, Rafael Navarro and Ted Ku-DiPietro put the visitors 3-0 to the good after 55 minutes. 

However, Sam Vines' own-goal reduced the deficit soon after, while a Carles Gil penalty made it 3-2 on 86 minutes, before Maximiliano Urruti struck a dramatic equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time.

Following Lozano and Angel's interventions, San Diego have now scored an MLS high of 11 goals via substitutes this season.

As for Dallas, they lost a match in which they both conceded first and held a lead since a 3-2 loss at Sporting Kansas City in September 2009.

Elsewhere, Surridge found the net for a sixth straight match for Nashville, as D.C. failed to score for an MLS-high ninth time this season.
