Guilherme and Agustin Resch secured the Houston Dynamo a 2-0 win over the New England Revolution, stretching their unbeaten streak to six games.

It was just the Revs' second home loss of the campaign as they failed to build on a strong start in what was their sixth defeat in MLS this season.

New England made a strong start to the match, with Peyton Miller forcing Jonathan Bond into a smart save with less than 90 seconds on the clock.

And Miller again tested the goalkeeper just before the half-hour mark, sending a tame shot straight at Bond after a lovely first touch.

The Dynamo upped the pressure just before half-time, though, and got the opener in the first minute of first-half stoppage time. Ezequiel Ponce's drive was blocked, but Guilherme latched onto the rebound to slot home.

Houston remained on top after the break, with Guilherme's left-sided free-kick curled straight at Matt Turner, who then also kept out Mateusz Bogusz.

However, the visitors broke through for the second time in the 63rd minute, as Resch rose highest on a Jack McGlynn corner to place a header past the helpless Turner.

The Revs struggled to mount a comeback, having to hold off further chances for Guilherme, with Turner once again coming to the rescue.

Dynamo's patience pays off in New England

The Revs have been incredibly strong at Gillette Stadium this season, with their only home defeat prior to this one coming against Eastern Conference leaders Nashville SC.

They looked set to get back to winning ways too as they dictated the early proceedings, but once the Dynamo settled into their groove, New England struggled to come up with answers.

Houston racked up 13 shots and worked well above their 0.87 expected goals (xG), with Turner having to make five saves. New England, by contrast, got just two of their nine attempts on target, and both came in the opening 30 minutes.

Guilherme has been an important figure for Houston, with this his 11th goal of the campaign. He led the team for shots (four), aerial duels won (two), and only McGlynn (29) played more passes in the final third than his 17.

And it is an important win for Houston, who have moved within two points of Western Conference leaders, the Vancouver Whitecaps. New England, meanwhile, missed the chance to close in on second-place Inter Miami in the East.
