Lionel Messi Shines for Inter Miami, Named MLS Player of the Month
Lionel Messi keeps adding new chapters to his legendary career. The Inter Miami star was named MLS Player of the Month for October, after closing the regular season with staggering numbers — five goals and five assists in just three matches.
A flawless month for the world champion
Messi led Inter Miami through a perfect run of three consecutive wins, capping it off by securing the MLS Golden Boot with 29 goals and 19 assists in the regular season. His form reached its peak in the 5–2 victory over Nashville SC, where he scored a stunning hat-trick and showcased once again why he remains the face of the league.
Before that, the Argentine had already been decisive — providing the game-winning assist against New England Revolution and scoring the decisive goal versus Atlanta United. Beyond his goals, Messi’s vision and creativity continue to elevate everyone around him.
Making MLS history
The Inter Miami captain became just the third player since 2005 to score at least 29 goals in a Golden Boot–winning season, joining Josef Martínez (31 in 2018) and Carlos Vela (34 in 2019).
His dominance throughout October made the voting process a mere formality — Messi was the unanimous choice, solidifying his status as the league’s biggest star and a symbol of the new era MLS is experiencing since his arrival.
Eyes on the playoffs
With his individual title secured, Messi now turns his focus to the MLS Playoffs, where Inter Miami will once again face Nashville SC this Friday. Under Javier Mascherano’s guidance, the team looks to continue its strong momentum, with Messi leading the charge in search of another historic trophy.
At 38 years old, Messi proves that his brilliance knows no limits. His influence in the United States extends far beyond the pitch — transforming Inter Miami into a true contender and making Major League Soccer a global spectacle.
