Lionel Messi Caught in Controversy: Serious Accusations Against His Family in MLS
The MLS is facing a media storm following the statements of Mateusz Klich, former DC United player, who launched harsh accusations against Lionel Messi, his family, and the management of Inter Miami. The Polish midfielder, with experience in the American league and a past at Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa, painted a chaotic picture of the club owned by David Beckham, claiming that the Argentine star’s inner circle has total control.
Klich accuses Jorge Messi of running the club
In an interview for the Foot Truck podcast, Klich was blunt: “Messi’s father practically runs the club. No decision can be made without his approval.” The midfielder didn’t hesitate to call the situation an “organizational disaster,” where, according to him, coaches and physios are constantly leaving due to the internal chaos.
His criticism also extended to language and locker room atmosphere. “Everyone speaks Spanish,” the Pole noted, suggesting that this barrier complicates the integration of players from other nationalities.
Klich also discouraged his colleagues from signing with Inter Miami: “I don’t recommend Miami while Messi is there. It’s a very boring and poorly organized place.”
Alternatives he does recommend
Far from just criticizing, Klich suggested other options for those looking to continue their careers in the United States. He highlighted the infrastructure of New York Red Bulls and New York City FC, the solidity of clubs like Columbus Crew and FC Cincinnati, and praised Nashville SC, which he described as a “beautiful” place to live and play.

Although he admitted that MLS is often underestimated as a “semi-professional” league, the Polish player stressed that the footballing demands are high and that the clubs he mentioned provide a much more stable environment.
For now, neither Inter Miami nor the Messi family have responded to these statements. However, Klich’s words spark an uncomfortable debate about the real influence of the Argentine captain’s entourage on the club’s structure and cast doubt on the transparency of its management.
The immediate future will reveal whether these accusations remain just controversial remarks or force the institution to provide clearer explanations about the Messi family’s role in decision-making.
