Antoine Griezmann wants to "win the championship" with Orlando City and take them to the top of MLS.

Griezmann left Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2025-26 season and is set to make his MLS debut against the San Jose Earthquakes on July 22.

It has been a tough campaign for the Lions so far as they sit 13th in the Eastern Conference, winning just four of their league games (D2 L9).

They went into the World Cup break off the back of a heavy 6-2 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes, though, having been unbeaten in three matches before that.

But Griezmann has high hopes for what he can achieve at Orlando.

"I want to win the championship, score goals, provide assists, encourage kids to play football and make them Orlando City fans," Griezmann said at an event in New York.

"I came for all of this: I want to take Orlando City to the top of football in the United States."

Griezmann is just one of the high-profile additions to MLS this summer, with Robert Lewandowski also moving to the United States to join the Chicago Fire.

They are joining the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Son Heung-min and Thomas Muller, who are already in the league.

"I think the level of the league is much higher than a few years ago," Griezmann said when asked about the level in MLS.

"Many talented young players are coming in, many start in MLS and then go to Europe, and at the same time, world-class players are choosing to come here. This is the best thing that could happen to our league.

"Players are coming while still in the prime of their careers; they're really coming to compete, to win, and to take on new challenges. Every professional wants to win, and I'm here for that too.

"I want to give my all to help the team, help the club grow, support my team-mates, and win trophies. I want to be an important player for Orlando City."
