New England Revolution head coach Marko Mitrovic says the team are doing everything they can to get Dor Turgeman back on hot form in front of goal against Charlotte FC.

Turgeman got a goal and an assist to help New England to their first win of the season against FC Cincinnati back in mid-March, but since then, he has only added one more goal to his tally (also three more assists).

The Israel international has had 27 shots in total (nine on target) and missed three 'big' chances.

New England are in strong form, losing just one of their last nine matches (W7 D1) – though that was last time out to Nashville SC – and Mitrovic is confident Turgeman will start to chip in with more goals soon.

"We are working on that. We need every player on the team to score goals," Mitrovic said when asked about Turgeman.

"Again, something we spoke about here several times: Dor is a forward, and no matter what the description of his job, the measurement will always be goals. But for us, [what] matters [is] those small actions that he does.

"Hopefully, sooner than later, we will get him on the scoresheet, because at the end of the day, that's the confidence that every forward wants to have, and that's their game. So hopefully, next game Dor will be on the scoresheet."

While New England are third in the Eastern Conference, just five points off the top, Charlotte are down in seventh.

They beat Toronto FC 3-1 last time out, ending a run of five league games without a win (D1 L4), and David Schnegg is determined to build on that to head into the World Cup break with some momentum.

"I think we came back from a few not great results, where maybe we deserved a little bit better, so it was not easy for us," he said.

"In the dressing room, we were talking about how important it is to win at home again, and overall.

"To be honest, it was just so superb to get the three points."

Charlotte FC – Kerwin Vargas

Kerwin Vargas provided two assists last Saturday, his second career multi-assist game.

He is the fourth Charlotte player in club history to record multiple multi-assist games, along with Pep Biel (three), Ashley Westwood and Wilfried Zaha.

New England Revolution – Carles Gil

Carles Gil scored his 20th career penalty since arriving in MLS in 2019.

Gil and Daniel Gazdag are the only two players during that time to score 20 or more penalty-kick goals.

Despite Charlotte being the favourites, New England have won six of nine meetings against the Crown by a single goal, including the first meeting this season. Seven of the nine meetings have been decided by one goal, while two of Charlotte's three wins have been by multiple goals.

Charlotte notched three goals in their win at home last weekend against Toronto. It marked the 17th time since the start of last season that they have scored multiple goals at home, with Vancouver Whitecaps the only team to produce more multi-goal performances at home (18).

New England picked up their eighth win of the season last week. It marks the third time in the post-shootout era that the Revolution have won at least eight of their first 13 games of a season, but the first since 2008.
