Messi and Suárez Lead Inter Miami Comeback With Stunning Performance
Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez both scored twice and assisted each other on Wednesday as Inter Miami secured a crucial 4-2 victory over CF Montréal, reviving their hopes in MLS under coach Javier Mascherano.
A Star Duo Takes Over in Chase Stadium
Inter Miami came into the match struggling, having won just once in their last eight games. But this time, at the Chase Stadium, their South American superstars stepped up to change the story.
Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a brilliant left-footed strike from outside the box, following a smart ball recovery and assist from Sergio Busquets. His goal came as a much-needed spark for the team, especially after early setbacks due to injuries to Jordi Alba and Gonzalo Luján, just two weeks before the Club World Cup.
Suárez Ends Drought, Messi Seals the Win
In the second half, 38-year-old Luis Suárez silenced critics and ended his scoring drought in style. He netted twice in just three minutes—first in the 68th minute from a Messi cross and then in the 71st, capitalizing on a defensive error by Montréal.
Although CF Montréal got one back through Dante Sealy in the 74th minute, Messi quickly responded with his second of the night. He completed a slick exchange with Suárez, finishing with a classy left-footed shot past the keeper.
Victor Loturi scored the final goal of the night for the Canadians, but it was too late to spark a comeback.
Injury Concerns Ahead of Club World Cup
Despite the important win, Inter Miami ended the match with serious concerns over the injuries sustained by Jordi Alba and Gonzalo Luján. The club now anxiously awaits updates with the Club World Cup just around the corner.
With this result, Inter Miami returns to winning form, led by the brilliance of Messi, now with eight league goals, and a rejuvenated Suárez, who added his third and fourth goals of the MLS campaign.
