PSG vs Lyon Rescheduled for Monday, October 26, at the Same Time as the Ballon d'Or

PSG vs Lyon Moved to Monday, October 26

At the request of the Paris Police Prefecture, the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, originally scheduled for Sunday, October 25, as the final fixture of Matchday 8 in Ligue 1, has been postponed until Monday, October 26, at 3:30 PM ET.

The match will take place at the same time as the Ballon d'Or ceremony.

Last year, several members of PSG's Parisian contingent missed Ousmane Dembélé's Ballon d'Or triumph after Le Classique was rescheduled for Monday, September 22.

This year, another unexpected development will prevent delegations from the Paris region from attending the ceremony in London.

The French Professional Football League (LFP) confirmed the schedule change in a statement published on its official website:

“The LFP acknowledges the order issued by the Police Prefecture (...) and has decided, in agreement with Ligue 1+, to move the match to Monday, October 26, at 3:30 PM ET.”

Why Was PSG vs Lyon Postponed?

The decision comes as a significant number of law enforcement officers are expected to be deployed in response to the so-called “Act II” of demonstrations in France.

PSG vs Lyon is not the only match affected by the situation.

Toulouse vs Troyes, in Ligue 1, as well as Saint-Étienne vs Nantes and Montpellier vs Red Star, in Ligue 2, have also been postponed.

Meanwhile, the match between Olympique Marseille and Le Havre, the penultimate fixture of the matchday, is also at risk of being rescheduled.
