PSG Risk Losing Ligue 1 Lead and Suffer Blow with Star Player Injury
Paris Saint-Germain not only let a crucial win slip away in their fight for the Ligue 1 title, but also suffered a worrying setback: the injury of young forward Désiré Doué, who was stretchered off during the 1–1 draw against Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir.
A Bitter Draw for Luis Enrique’s Side
Luis Enrique’s team stumbled once again in the French league against a Lorient side battling to avoid relegation. Although PSG dominated possession and created the clearer chances, their lack of finishing touch once again cost them valuable points.
The Parisian club took the lead in the 49th minute through Nuno Mendes, who scored after following up his own header inside the box. The move started with an excellent play from Désiré Doué, who assisted the Portuguese fullback—just moments before becoming the night’s unfortunate headline.
Only two minutes later, Lorient equalized through Brazilian winger Igor Silva, who pounced on a rebound after a fine run by Arsène Kouassi. The goal neutralized PSG’s dominance, and despite efforts from Vitinha, Bradley Barcola, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, introduced in the second half, the visitors failed to regain the lead.
Concern Over Désiré Doué’s Injury
The most worrying moment of the match came just past the hour mark. Désiré Doué, who had only recently returned from a right calf injury suffered on international duty with France in September, collapsed on the pitch after sprinting down the left wing.
The young forward, visibly distraught and in tears, was taken off on a stretcher showing clear signs of pain in his right thigh. PSG’s medical staff confirmed that he will undergo tests in the coming hours to determine the extent of the injury, which could sideline him for several weeks.
Doué had been one of PSG’s standout performers up to that point, showing skill, pace, and creativity in attack. His absence adds to the club’s growing list of injuries over the past month, further complicating Luis Enrique’s plans.
With this draw, PSG have now recorded their third draw in their last four Ligue 1 matches, a run that puts their lead at risk and raises new alarm bells in Paris. The potential long-term loss of Doué could prove to be an even bigger blow than the dropped points themselves.
