PSG Put Pressure on Lens, and Turn Their Focus to Flamengo
With the Intercontinental Cup Final against Flamengo on the horizon, PSG rotated their squad but still delivered, shifting the pressure onto Lens in Ligue 1.
With the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo firmly in sight, Paris Saint-Germain took care of business this Saturday with a hard-fought league win over Metz, doing just enough to stay in the title race and apply pressure on Lens.
Sitting second in the standings — an unusual position for PSG at this stage of the season — the reigning champions achieved their primary objective: collecting all three points. They did so with rotations, clearly keeping an eye on Wednesday’s clash in Qatar, and managing workloads in a demanding schedule. While there were moments of discomfort, Luis Enrique’s side showed composure and experience, even when not at their sharpest.
PSG Rotate and Already Have Flamengo in Mind
Against a bottom-of-the-table Metz side fighting for survival, PSG needed half an hour to break the deadlock, when Gonçalo Ramos made it 1–0. The second goal soon followed through Ndjantou, seemingly putting the match on track.
However, a goal from Deminguet just before halftime exposed some defensive lapses and kept the game alive.
In the second half, PSG alternated between control and concession — a familiar pattern when pushing forward while protecting slim leads. Safonov, starting in goal, delivered when called upon, while Luis Enrique rested key players such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, and João Neves, all with the Intercontinental Cup final in mind.

PSG Win, Rotate, and Stay in the Title Race
The match appeared settled after a brilliant individual effort from Désiré Doué, who completed a coast-to-coast run to make it 1–3. Even a spectacular goal from Tsitaishvili failed to change the outcome.
PSG closed out the match intelligently, even reinforcing the defense in the final minutes. Without flair but with efficiency, the champions did exactly what was required: win, manage their energy, and remain firmly in the hunt for the top spot — with their focus already shifting toward another international challenge.
