Marquinhos Aims to Keep Making History with PSG
Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos heads into a new season with the same ambition that has defined his career in Paris. Having become the first player in the club’s history to lift the Champions League trophy, the Brazilian defender is eager to keep adding chapters to his legacy.
Hungry for More Titles
Marquinhos made it clear that his “hunger” for silverware remains intact, setting his sights on etching his name deeper into PSG’s history. “We are the Champions League winners, and we face the Europa League champions. This is my first Super Cup with PSG as a player, and I hope to play in many more,” he said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the 2025 UEFA Super Cup.
Leading PSG Through Highs and Lows
Reflecting on the team’s journey, Marquinhos admitted that despite the recent Champions League triumph and the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final, motivation is still high. “I want my name to remain in PSG’s history. Last year we had ups and downs, but we know what it means to win and lose,” he stated.
On Donnarumma’s Situation
The captain also addressed the absence of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, left out by coach Luis Enrique for technical reasons. Marquinhos emphasized that the Italian “will always be part of the club’s history” and assured that if he stays, the squad will welcome him back, recalling his crucial role in PSG’s Champions League victory.
Ready for the Super Cup Challenge
Acknowledging that PSG has only had a week of training since the Club World Cup, Marquinhos noted that Tottenham arrives with more match rhythm. Even so, he trusts in the squad’s quality and the demands of their coach to compete for the first trophy of the season in this historic clash set to take place in Udine.
