The hosts return to action following a 2-1 defeat to Monaco, extending their difficult run in the league. Lens are now four consecutive Ligue 1 matches without a win and need a positive result to begin climbing the standings.

Meanwhile, Lyon arrive with confidence after a commanding 4-0 victory over Rennes before the international break. Paulo Fonseca's side remain unbeaten in their opening five league matches and will look to build on that momentum as they put pressure on league leaders Monaco.

How Lens Comes Into the Match

Lens have endured a difficult start to the season. After opening their campaign with an impressive 5-2 victory over Auxerre, the team have struggled to maintain consistency and currently sit 15th in the standings with four points.

The defeat to Monaco marked their third loss in the opening five rounds, increasing the pressure on Yannick Cahuzac, who is looking to turn the team's fortunes around.

How Lyon Comes Into the Match

Lyon are enjoying a very different start to the season. Their 4-0 win over Rennes reinforced the team's positive momentum before the international break and kept them among the leading contenders in Ligue 1.

With 11 points and second place in the standings, Fonseca's side have recorded three wins and two draws in their opening five league matches. A victory against Lens could temporarily move them above Monaco, who have 13 points and play on Saturday.

Final Take

Lens need a victory to change the direction of their season, but they face a Lyon side in excellent form with an opportunity to close the gap at the top of Ligue 1.

The fixture represents an important test for both clubs: Lens will look to respond in front of their home supporters, while Lyon aim to confirm their impressive start to the campaign.
