PSG looks to extend its lead in Ligue 1

PSG can increase their lead at the top of the table with a crucial clash against Nantes.

The next two Ligue 1 matches for PSG could all but wrap up the title race in favor of the Parisians or make the final weeks of the club's season quite the challenge.

A favorable schedule on paper

Back-to-back league games against Nantes on Wednesday and Angers on Saturday, both live on beIN SPORTS, are set to deliver victories to PSG, according to the form book that is.

Nantes are currently mired in the Ligue 1 relegation zone with just four wins from 29. A victory in the Parc des Princes would give a four-point lead over Lens with both teams having played 29 games. That advantage could be increased further on Saturday, or at least maintained, with a visit to Angers, a team that is very much comfortable in midtable.

Injury concerns and a packed schedule

However, as Luis Enrique is aware, picking up results in reality is very different to predicting them in theory, especially with the start of a strength-sapping Champions League semifinal doubleheader against Bayern Munich just a week away. Vitinha is set to miss both Ligue 1 matches with a foot injury picked up in Sunday's loss against Lyon and might struggle to be ready for the challenge of the Bavarians.

Focus first on Ligue 1

The Champions League challenge is for another day, says Luis Enrique who lamented the challenge of nine games in 27 games for PSG in Tuesday's press conference. The immediate challenge is for PSG to pick up a win against Nantes on Wednesday and give the team a cushion in the thrilling title race with Lens.
