Lens suffers but strikes first and takes control
The Bollaert-Delelis Stadium vibrated from the start with a Lens determined to restore their image after a tough midweek setback. And they certainly did. Just six minutes in, Odsonne Edouard took advantage of a move born from Mamadou Sangaré’s intensity to open the scoring and ignite the crowd.
The early goal seemed to set the stage for a comfortable afternoon, but nothing could have been further from the truth. Lorient, labeled the worst visiting team in Europe, defied expectations and stood tall, pressing, accelerating, and forcing Lens to retreat at several moments.
