If not a footballer… to the NBA like Wembanyama?
In a parallel world, we might have seen another phenomenon in the NBA, in the style of his compatriot Victor Wembanyama with the San Antonio Spurs. Mbaye confessed to beIN SPORTS that, if he weren’t a footballer, he would have chosen basketball:
“I think I would have liked to be a basketball player. Because it’s my second sport. I really like it a lot,” Mbaye revealed.

Lifting the Champions League at 17
When asked how he remembers the night he won the Champions League, Mbaye responded that it was “incredible”:
“My reaction? Well, I was only 17 years old, and winning the Champions League at 17 is incredible. I was very happy on the day of the final. It was a crazy moment,” he commented to beIN SPORTS.
In 2024, he became the youngest player to start for PSG in the club’s history, at just 16 years, six months, and 23 days, against Le Havre. This record confirms the excellent work of the Parisian youth academy and signals a bright future for Mbaye.
Mbaye chooses between Dembélé and Kimpembe
Regarding the locker room, the young star didn’t hesitate to point out Ousmane Dembélé and Presnel Kimpembe as the funniest members of the team:
“I think Ousmane (Dembélé) or Presnel (Kimpembe). They’re very funny.”
