How to Watch: Rennes vs. Marseille on beIN SPORTS
Timothy Weah set to begin life in Ligue 1 in season opener at Rennes
Ligue 1 is back with a bang on Friday as Marseille travels to Rennes in the opening match of the 2025-26 campaign.

Marseille are looking for their first Ligue 1 title win since 2009-2010 and have been busy in the transfer market to challenge PSG. USMNT forward, Timothy Weah, has moved on loan from Juventus and faces a key season in his career as he looks to book a starting spot for his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The American is returning to the French league after previous spells with PSG and Lille.
Weah has been joined by Brazilian winger, Igor Paixao, who scored 16 Eredivisie goals for Feyenoord last season. The midfield has been boosted with the arrival of the England international, Angel Gomes. With more time left before the transfer market closes, more in’s and out’s are predicted by coach, Roberto de Zerbi – “we are more competitive this year.”
Rennes are looking to move on from a disappointing campaign and are set to be busy in the summer transfer window. The Brittany side have already picked up fullback Przemysław Adam Frankowski on loan from Galatasaray.
