THE DETAILS OF SINAYOKO’S LIGHTNING-FAST GOAL

The scorer was Mali international forward Lassine Sinayoko, who finished off a rapid attacking move started by Pablo Pagis and continued by Luca Koleosho. The Paris FC striker fired a left-footed shot into the far corner to make it 1-0.

It was the earliest goal Marseille had conceded in a Ligue 1 match and their earliest conceded goal in the league since April 2024, when Wissam Ben Yedder scored for Monaco against Lyon after just 22 seconds.

THREE SECONDS BEHIND GIGNAC’S MARSEILLE RECORD

Sinayoko’s 23-second goal also invites a special comparison with André-Pierre Gignac, one of the most important forwards in Olympique de Marseille’s recent history.

Gignac scored after just 20 seconds, the fastest goal ever scored by Marseille in Ligue 1, against Évian Thonon Gaillard on September 14, 2014. The Paris FC striker’s goal was therefore just three seconds behind that lightning-fast effort.

He surpassed another notable mark by one second: Maxwell had scored after 24 seconds for Paris Saint-Germain against Lille in 2015.

And there was more. Sinayoko’s goal came just two seconds after Nolan Roux’s 21-second strike for Lille against Nancy, and just one second after Karim Benzema’s 22-second goal for Lyon against Auxerre.

VERY FAST, BUT STILL FAR FROM MBAPPÉ’S RECORD

Although 23 seconds represents a historic mark against Marseille, Sinayoko’s goal remains some distance away from the fastest goal in Ligue 1 history.

The record stands at just eight seconds, a mark shared by Michel Rio, who scored for Caen against Cannes in 1992, and Kylian Mbappé, who matched the record with Paris Saint-Germain against Lille on August 21, 2022.

The difference is significant: Sinayoko finished 15 seconds behind the all-time record. The list of Ligue 1’s fastest goals also includes Habib Diallo at 13 seconds, Yoan Gouffran at 13, Jaroslav Plasil and Valentín Vada at 14, and Roland Lamah at 16.

Lassine Sinayoko’s 23-second strike ranks 18th among the fastest goals in Ligue 1 history.

For Marseille, however, another statistic is even more significant: the club had never conceded a goal this quickly in France’s top flight.

And the goal came in an especially painful defeat. Paris FC won 3-2, with Sinayoko completing a hat trick to emerge as the star of the afternoon.
