How And Where To Watch: Troyes vs Marseille LIVE on beIN SPORTS
A dream start to the season on the pitch for Marseille has since turned into a veritable nightmare. One of Ligue 1's giants needs to wake up fast with a victory at Troyes live on beIN SPORTS on Sunday.
The Ligue 1 campaign began with optimism for Marseille with a rousing 4-0 win over Strasbourg, which seemed to set aside predictions of a tough season for the financially challenged club. However, results since then have seen a downward spiral for Marseille, with four defeats in a row, including a damaging home loss to PSG just before the extended international break.
This run of form has left Marseille in the relegation zone, second-from-bottom of the table. Sunday's trip to Troyes sees a clash against opponents which are only one place above Marseille in the standings. This sees Sunday's clash as an opportunity to either restart the season, or for the campaign to worsen.
The club's American captain, Timothy Weah, will be suspended after a sending off against PSG. Meanwhile, Amine Gouiri could be a doubt for Sunday's game after picking up an injury on international duty with Algeria. The forward has been the only shining light on the pitch with four goals this season.
Another loss for Marseille against third-from-bottom Troyes would equal the team's longest losing streak in the top-flight over the last 40 years.
No side is too big to go down in Ligue 1, as Bordeaux and St. Etienne have found out in recent seasons, two teams with sixteen league title wins between them. Marseille has to beat Troyes to move off the same path.
