How and Where to Watch: Lens vs. Paris Saint-Germain on beIN SPORTS
PSG have a chance to officially clinch the Ligue 1 title against their title rivals.
Officially, the Ligue 1 title race is still open with the two title challengers each having two matches left. Unofficially, PSG have two hands on the trophy for the fifth time in a row and for the eighth in nine years. However, the players are not yet able to lift it. As PSG coach, Luis Enrique says, "there is a 99.9% chance that we are already champions.”
Time for the math. PSG currently have a six-point advantage over second place Lens with two games to play. However, the goal difference between the pair, which is how the title would be decided in the event of both teams ending the season on equal points, is fifteen goals in PSG's advantage.
By coincidence, the two teams are playing against each other on Wednesday. A Lens win would technically speaking take the title race to the final day. A really, really, really big for Lens would at least make things interesting with PSG away at their very near neighbors, Paris FC. However, even a point for PSG at Lens is enough to officially seal the deal and start the party.
The fact that Lens are still in the reckoning for the title, even if it is remotely, with two games to go is a testament to the work of coach, Pierre Sage, who picked up the manager of the year award for Ligue 1. Lens are guaranteed a Champions League group stage place next season and still have a Coupe de France Final to look forward to against Nice.
To top these great achievements off, Lens will be looking for another famous win on Wednesday against PSG in front of their fiery fans who are saying 'so you are telling me there's a chance?'
