How and Where to Watch: Auxerre vs. PSG on beIN SPORTS
PSG will look to climb to the top of the Ligue 1 standings on Friday with a victory away at Auxerre, as the title race continues to tighten.
Although PSG’s midweek defeat against Sporting CP in the Champions League dominated the headlines — and sparked visible frustration from Luis Enrique — last Friday’s commanding league performance should not be forgotten. The Parisian side delivered a convincing 3–0 win over Lille, a match that underlined their attacking strength and growing momentum in domestic competition.
Despite the heavy travel schedule and the physical toll of competing across multiple tournaments, Les Dogues were unable to trouble PSG at the Parc des Princes. Instead, the night belonged to Ousmane Dembélé, who struck twice in a performance that evoked the form that once made him a Ballon d’Or contender. His pace, movement, and confidence in front of goal were key to breaking down a well-organized Lille defense.
Even so, that victory was not enough for PSG to reclaim first place in Ligue 1. Lens have kept their remarkable run alive, winning their eighth consecutive league match to remain top of the table by a single point. The leaders face a difficult test on Saturday with a trip to Marseille, opening the door for PSG to seize control of the title race if they can take care of business on Friday. A win over Auxerre would give PSG their eighth victory in nine league games and could send them back to the summit.
As for Auxerre, the hosts are in desperate need of points. They currently sit in the relegation zone with just 12 points from 18 matches, having managed only three wins all season. Their struggles have been defined by defensive lapses and a lack of consistency, but they will be hoping for a spark from a new arrival. Midfielder Romain Faivre, who has joined on loan from Bournemouth, brings experience and creativity that could help stabilize the team and provide a much-needed boost in their fight for survival.
Facing PSG is always a daunting task, but Auxerre will try to use home advantage and fresh energy from their new signing to pull off an upset. Meanwhile, PSG know that anything less than three points could prove costly in such a tight race.
