From Tragedy to Stardom: Lepaul’s Rise
After personal loss and career setbacks, the French striker has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s brightest stars.
Estéban Lepaul has one of the most powerful stories in modern football. Now a key striker for Stade Rennais FC, he has risen to prominence in the Ligue 1 through resilience and determination.
His life changed dramatically in 2020 when his father, Fabrice Le Paul, passed away following a serious accident. At just 20 years old, Lepaul faced the heartbreaking responsibility of authorizing the withdrawal of life support.
At the same time, Olympique de Lyon decided not to renew his contract, leaving him without a club and questioning his future in football.
Instead of giving up, he rebuilt his career from the lower divisions, playing for SAS Épinal and US Orléans before making his breakthrough with Angers SCO.
His performances earned him a move to Rennes in 2025, and he has since delivered, scoring 16 league goals this season.
Known for his instinctive finishing and relentless attacking style, Lepaul is more than just a rising star—he is a symbol of perseverance. Every goal carries a deeper meaning, a tribute to his father and the journey that shaped him.
