Fabián Scores as PSG Claim Their Second Ligue 1 Win
Paris Saint-Germain secured their second consecutive victory in Ligue 1, this time against Angers at the Parc des Princes. With a lone goal from Fabián Ruiz at the start of the second half, the Parisian side reached six points and remains at the top of the table, awaiting the rest of the matchday.
Fabián makes the difference in Paris
The match was dominated from start to finish by PSG, who enjoyed up to 80% possession in the first half. However, clarity in the final third was once again an issue. Even Ousmane Dembélé wasted a penalty in the opening period, sending his shot over the crossbar and keeping Angers alive.
Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, Fabián Ruiz appeared in the 50th minute. After a rebound inside the box, the Spanish midfielder struck first-time to break the deadlock and seal the decisive 1-0 win. It was only PSG’s second shot on target all game, but enough to secure three more points and maintain the champion’s flawless start.
PSG in control, but lacking sparkle
Luis Enrique’s side has yet to show the overwhelming form with which they ended last season, when they lifted the Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the French and European Super Cups. A tight preseason and the heavy schedule following the Club World Cup final and the European Super Cup appear to have affected the team’s rhythm.

Nevertheless, PSG never looked in danger defensively and displayed their usual control in midfield. Angers, well organized at the back, managed a few isolated efforts but never truly threatened the Parisian goal. In the end, the difference in quality proved decisive, with a goal worth gold to keep them at the top of the standings.
With two narrow wins in their first two matches—first through Vitinha and now Fabián—PSG shows that even far from their best, they have the resources to unlock tight games. The question remains: how long will it take them to regain their trademark attacking firepower?
