Endrick Praises Everything He Learned from Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid
Now settled in France and making an immediate impact, Endrick looks back to acknowledge the mark left by Carlo Ancelotti during his time at Real Madrid, a period he describes as fundamental to his growth on and off the pitch.
Endrick’s adaptation to French football has been swift and convincing. The Brazilian forward, now with Olympique de Lyon, has drawn attention not only for his early performances but also for the maturity with which he reflects on his career. In that reflection, one name stands above all others: Carlo Ancelotti. For the young striker, sharing time with the Italian coach at Real Madrid was a true education.
“I could write a book about everything I learned from him,” Endrick said, making it clear that his stint at the Spanish giants was about far more than minutes and results. Above all, it was a period of deep learning.
Ancelotti’s Classroom
During his first season in Spain, Endrick trained alongside world-class players and under a coach who, in his words, “has won everything and understands the game like very few.” Ancelotti taught him not only tactical details and attacking movements, but also the value of patience, mindset, and respect for the process.
The Brazilian admits it was not always easy. Injuries limited his continuity and kept him out of major competitions, including the Club World Cup, one of the toughest moments since arriving in Europe. Still, he highlights the constant backing of Real Madrid, who carefully managed his recovery and supported his decision to go out on loan in search of regular playing time.
“In football, time is extremely valuable. To grow, you have to play,” Endrick explained, convinced that the move to Lyon was the right step at this stage of his career.
Lyon, the Right Stage to Keep Growing
Choosing Olympique de Lyon was no coincidence. Endrick found a club with history, strong infrastructure, and an attacking style that suits his strengths. A direct conversation with Paulo Fonseca proved decisive, as the Portuguese coach laid out a clear plan and showed immediate trust—something the forward greatly appreciated.
In his first days in France, the Brazilian has already left his mark with goals and positive performances. He feels integrated, supported by the locker room, and motivated by a demanding fan base. His objectives are straightforward yet ambitious: improve week by week and help the team win.
Madrid Remains Central
While his full focus is currently on Lyon, Endrick makes no secret of the fact that his bond with Real Madrid remains intact. He is grateful for the support he received until the very last day and keeps the hope of returning stronger in the future. In the meantime, he applies every lesson learned from Carlo Ancelotti, convinced that this foundation will be crucial to achieving his ambitions—including a possible place at the next World Cup.
For Endrick, the journey is just beginning, but the lessons learned in Madrid are already an essential part of his footballing DNA.
