Davide Ancelotti Announced as New LOSC Lille Head Coach
The LOSC Lille have announced Davide Ancelotti as their new head coach. After years working alongside Carlo Ancelotti at some of the biggest clubs in world football, the Italian will now take on the challenge of leading the French side in the upcoming UEFA Champions League.
LOSC Lille confirmed on Monday the appointment of Davide Ancelotti as their new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season. The Italian manager will replace Bruno Genesio, who left the club at the end of last season after guiding the team to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 and securing qualification for the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
For Ancelotti, the opportunity represents one of the biggest challenges of his career. While he has spent years playing a key role within some of the most successful coaching staffs in world football, he will now be responsible for leading an ambitious project in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
A Career Built Alongside Carlo Ancelotti
Much of Davide Ancelotti’s experience has been closely tied to the career of his father, Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian began taking on a more prominent role when he joined his father's coaching staff during his time at Bayern Munich between 2016 and 2017.

He later followed Carlo Ancelotti to Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid, while also serving on the coaching staff of the Brazil National Team. Throughout that journey, he contributed to multiple domestic and international title-winning campaigns, gaining valuable experience managing elite-level squads.
Before becoming an assistant coach, he also worked as a fitness coach for Paris Saint-Germain, further expanding his knowledge of the professional game.
The Challenge of Establishing Himself as a Head Coach
Davide Ancelotti’s most recent experience as a head coach came with Botafogo, where he spent five months in charge. During that stretch, he recorded 15 wins, 10 draws, and 8 losses, results that helped strengthen his credentials for a return to European football in a leadership role.
LOSC Lille president Olivier Létang praised the new manager’s qualities, highlighting his football vision, professionalism, and leadership as key factors behind the club’s decision to appoint him.
With a competitive squad and the challenge of competing in the UEFA Champions League, Davide Ancelotti will now have the opportunity to prove he is ready to forge his own path and establish himself among Europe’s next generation of managers.
