Ansu Fati Remains Sidelined With Monaco

The season is already underway, but Ansu Fati has yet to play a single minute for Monaco. The Spanish forward continues to recover from a muscular problem that emerged during preseason, and everything suggests his return will have to wait until September.

Ansu’s last official appearance came on May 17, when he played the full 90 minutes in Monaco’s thrilling 5-4 victory over Strasbourg. Since then, injuries have once again stood in the way of a player who was hoping to begin the new campaign with some much-needed continuity.

The Principality club backed him during the summer and decided to trigger its €11 million purchase option. However, Monaco have yet to enjoy Ansu’s services at the start of the new season.

A Setback Delayed His Return

The problem began during preseason, when Ansu Fati experienced discomfort in his right calf.

The Spaniard made progress in his recovery and appeared close to returning to action, but a setback forced him to stop once again. Since then, both the coaching staff and Monaco’s medical team have opted to take a patient approach with his recovery.

His injury history is another reason not to take unnecessary risks.

Ansu has already missed the match against Le Havre at the start of the Ligue 1 campaign, as well as the first meeting with Górnik in the Conference League qualifying round, and he will also be unavailable for the second leg.

If there are no further setbacks, the expectation is that he could return sometime in September.

Monaco Do Not Want to Take Any Risks With Ansu

The schedule does not make things any easier.

Ansu also appears set to miss two important matches against Olympique de Marseille at the Louis II, followed by a trip to face Paris Saint-Germain in Paris.

Head coach Filipe Luís is pleased with the player and has no intention of rushing his return. The priority is for the discomfort to completely disappear before he is included in a matchday squad again.

For Ansu, the setback comes after a season in which he had managed to rediscover some positive form in both Ligue 1 and European competition.

That is precisely why Monaco decided to keep him permanently.

Now, it is a matter of waiting.

Ansu Fati has yet to play a single minute this season, but September is emerging as the target for his return to the pitch. For a player who has already endured too many injury problems, the priority this time will be to return fully fit and, above all, finally find the consistency he needs.
