Lens Extend Positive Run in Ligue 1
Lens took advantage of setbacks that affected its rival, Clermont Foot, and extended its good streak after securing a victory at Gabriel Montpied Stadium (0-3), in a match that became turbulent just before halftime with two expulsions, one for each team.
Frank Haise's Lens hasn't lost in Ligue 1 since mid-September when they fell to Metz. They obtained a resounding victory, the third in the last four matches, which they initiated eleven minutes in thanks to Sepe Elye Wahi (11'), who was expelled in added time of the first half.
He received two cards in two minutes, leaving the visitors with ten, but the situation leveled three minutes later when Alidu Seidu saw a straight red card.
The home team did not react, and Lens sealed the deal after the break. Adrien Thomasson scored the second in the 50th minute, and Wesley Said added the third in the 82nd.
Lens now occupies the sixth position in the European zone, while Clermont is second to last, in relegation, trailing by two points from Lorient, in the promotion spot, and three points from safety.
