PSG vs Le Mans | Highlights | Ligue 1
Paris Saint-Germain faced a tougher challenge than expected as Le Mans fought their way back into the contest. The hosts responded quickly to keep their winning streak alive in Ligue 1.
PSG defeated Le Mans 3-1 to extend their winning streak in Ligue 1. Lucas Beraldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 19th minute, before Louis Mafouta equalized in the 54th. The Parisians responded quickly, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia restoring their lead in the 61st minute and Maghnes Akliouche sealing the victory in the 68th.
PSG hosts Le Mans on Saturday aiming to make up ground in the Ligue 1 title race
The message from Luis Enrique to his players is that the team is going to have to move up a gear compared with the first five matches of the campaign, before the extended international break. Just two matches were won in that series, which included a 2-1 victory in Le Classique against Marseille.
That leaves PSG a little off the pace in sixth, five points from the early front runners of Monaco.
One of the issues that the club's Spanish coach needs to overcome is the tendency for his team to start games too slowly. Only two of the team's eight goals in Ligue 1 this season have been scored in the first half. The defense has also been leakier than normal, with seven goals conceded.
LE MANS LOOKS TO PULL OFF AN UPSET AT THE PARC DES PRINCES
Newly-promoted Le Mans will be the visitors to the Parc des Princes on Saturday. Although Le Mans has won just a single game, one defeat and three draws to add to that record sees Saturday's visitors in ninth and the second-highest scorers in the division with nine goals.
Nevertheless, PSG's players will be targeting this game as a must-win match to keep up with Monaco at the top of the table.
