The French and European powerhouse completed a comeback to win Le Classique on Matchday 5 and move closer to the top of the Ligue 1 table.
Paris Saint-Germain claimed another edition of Le Classique with a 2-1 victory over Olympique Marseille at the Vélodrome on Matchday 5 of the 2026-27 Ligue 1 season. The clash delivered a frantic finish, with three goals scored in just eight minutes and a red card that ultimately left the hosts at a disadvantage.
FERRAN TORRES OPENS THE SCORING AS ANGEL GOMES RESPONDS
After a goalless first half, Ferran Torres came off the bench and changed the course of the game. In the 66th minute, Désiré Doué delivered a pinpoint cross from the left, and the Spanish forward powered home a header to give PSG a 1-0 lead. It was his fourth Ligue 1 goal and his seventh goal for PSG in all competitions this season.
Marseille responded just six minutes later. Amine Gouiri started the move and set up Angel Gomes, who received the ball inside the box, beat Willian Pacho and finished with his right foot inside the post to make it 1-1 in the 72nd minute.
MARQUINHOS DECIDES LE CLASSIQUE AS MARSEILLE FINISH WITH 10 MEN
The deadlock lasted just two minutes. In the 74th minute, Marquinhos found himself inside the box following a long cross from Nuno Mendes. The Brazilian captain reacted quickest to his own rebound and fired home to restore PSG’s 2-1 lead under manager Luis Enrique.
Marseille tried to respond, but their chances became even slimmer when Timothy Weah was shown a second yellow card and sent off. With 10 men, the hosts were unable to find another equalizer.
With the victory, PSG recorded their second consecutive Ligue 1 win and moved up to sixth place. Marseille, meanwhile, suffered their fifth straight defeat and remain in the relegation zone.
