The Players Cut from Boca Juniors
Boca Juniors is undergoing a major internal shake-up with Marcos Rojo, Marcelo Saracchi, and Cristian Lema sidelined from the squad due to coaching decisions and conflicts with the staff.
Russo Comments on the Situation of the Sidelined Players
Russo, “There’s a reason you get to that situation,” said the Boca coach regarding the cases of Rojo, Saracchi, and Lema.
Marcos Rojo, Sidelined and on His Way Out
The former captain has been completely removed from the first team. With a current contract and influence in the locker room, he was dropped after repeated clashes with the coaching staff, the latest coming after the defeat to Huracán. The situation escalated in Ezeiza: a heated argument, walking out of training, and the drastic decision to separate him along with Lema and Saracchi.
To make matters worse, he was informed by a kit man that he was no longer allowed to use the main locker room. Although there were rumors linking him to Independiente, all signs point to a move to Estudiantes, where he is reportedly welcomed with open arms.
Saracchi, Dropped and Up for Sale
He is the only one of the three with a long-term contract and some market value. Boca has already decided to part ways with him and hopes to find an exit, preferably a sale or a loan with an option to buy. If no offer comes in, they do not rule out releasing him.
Lema, Without a Place and Training Separately
He tried to negotiate his departure after being sidelined, but the club rejected his proposal. Boca countered with an offer, but no agreement was reached. Today, Cristian Lema continues to train alone, with no chance of being considered for the squad again.
