Will Barça Be Able to Host the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Camp Nou?
FC Barcelona is on the verge of a symbolic and logistical milestone: returning to the Spotify Camp Nou for the Joan Gamper Trophy after a two-year absence. However, the club still needs to clear a final set of approvals before making that dream a reality.
What Permits Has the Club Already Secured?
The Barcelona City Council has granted activity and construction permits for the Camp Nou, covering over 250,000 m² of stadium infrastructure. This green light, also endorsed by local fire authorities, allows the use of lower and middle stands, with an estimated capacity of 62,000 spectators.
What Permit Is Still Missing?
The club must now obtain the first occupancy license, which is essential to open the stadium to the public. To get it, Barça must submit documentation proving the completion of key construction phases, especially in the substructure and seating areas, by July 28.
That same day, an internal load test will be carried out—without fans—to ensure that all safety and functionality criteria are met.

When Could Fans Return to the Camp Nou?
If the technical inspection passes and the final license is granted, Barcelona could host the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10 at the Camp Nou. The expected attendance would range between 25,000 and 60,000 fans, depending on the final authorization issued by city officials.
Why Is This Return So Important?
Beyond its emotional significance, the return to the Camp Nou is also vital financially. The match would allow the club to activate the commercial use of 475 VIP seats, which are contractually tied to LaLiga’s salary cap calculations.
