When Will Endrick Return for Real Madrid and What Does His Future Hold?
The 2025–26 season has started on the wrong foot for Endrick, who has yet to train normally due to a muscle injury he’s been dealing with since May. While he continues his recovery, Real Madrid has already made key decisions that define his place in the squad — and they’re not good signs for the young Brazilian.
When Will Endrick Return to the Pitch?
The 18-year-old striker suffered a right hamstring tendon injury that kept him out of the final stretch of last season and the FIFA Club World Cup. Although he was expected to join the team for preseason, he suffered a setback during the U.S. tour, which delayed his recovery even further.
According to medical reports, he’s not expected to return before mid or late September, meaning he will miss the start of LaLiga and the first FIFA international window of the cycle.
What Decision Has Real Madrid Made About His Future?
While Endrick remains sidelined, Gonzalo García seized his opportunity at the Club World Cup and earned a place in the squad. Not only that, but Xabi Alonso chose the academy product to wear the No. 9 shirt, a symbolic move that clearly shows who has the edge this season.
As a result, the board is seriously considering a loan move for Endrick — likely to Real Sociedad, a deal that was nearly finalized before his injury relapse. The idea is for him to get consistent minutes, something he won’t be guaranteed with the first team given the level of competition.
What Awaits Him in Madrid’s Attack?
Mbappé, Vinícius, Rodrygo, Brahim, and now Gonzalo form a formidable attacking line. And with Alonso experimenting with new tactical systems, space becomes even more limited for the Brazilian. As of now, Endrick is the sixth option in the pecking order.
On top of that, Ancelotti had already used him primarily as a super-sub last season — though he managed to score 7 goals in just 843 minutes. But now, even that role is far from guaranteed.
What Is Being Said by His Camp?
Despite the outlook, Endrick does not want to leave the club. Both he and his camp remain confident that once he recovers, he’ll be able to fight for a place. In fact, his agent recently stated that the player “will succeed at the highest level — if not at Real Madrid, then at another major European club.”
