Rashford is in Barcelona… and the announcement is imminent

Marcus Rashford's transfer to FC Barcelona is all but confirmed. The English forward is already in Barcelona, where he passed his medical on Tuesday and had his first contact with Hansi Flick’s squad. Barring any surprises, his official presentation is set for Wednesday afternoon, marking the start of a new chapter for the former Manchester United star.

Asian tour… without Rashford?

Time is tight. Barça are scheduled to fly to Asia this Thursday to play three preseason friendlies against Vissel Kobe, FC Seoul, and Daegu FC. However, it’s highly likely that Rashford won’t make the trip, as the squad has already been training for weeks and the Englishman is just beginning to adjust physically and tactically under Flick.

Making his debut during the tour would be an unnecessary risk—especially for a player coming off a rough season who’s aiming to rediscover his best form. The more logical option would be for him to remain in Barcelona, working on his fitness while the team completes their Asian tour.

If Rashford stays in Barcelona, all signs point to a debut in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The club’s traditional curtain-raiser will take place on August 10 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, against Como 1907, managed by Cesc Fàbregas.

Not only would it be Rashford’s first match in front of the home fans, but also his final test before the start of LaLiga on August 16 against Mallorca. A dream debut on home soil, facing a historic opponent, and with all eyes watching. Now all that’s missing is the official announcement… and the countdown begins.
