Vinícius Júnior Missed El Clásico, but His Message Lit Up Social Media

  • The Brazilian was suspended for Real Madrid’s win in Barcelona, but still found a way to join the celebrations with a reaction that quickly drew attention online.

Vinícius Júnior Still Found a Way to Join the Party

Vinícius Júnior could not be on the pitch at Camp Nou, but he still made his presence felt after El Clásico. The Brazilian celebrated Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Barcelona from afar, and his reaction on social media quickly caught the attention of supporters.

Vinícius shared a Real Madrid post featuring Kylian Mbappé celebrating one of his goals at Camp Nou. He did not need many words: four crying-laughing emojis were enough to make his feelings about the victory perfectly clear.

The reaction came after a hugely important Clásico for Madrid. Mbappé scored both goals for Los Blancos, including the winner in the 87th minute after Raphinha had equalized for Barça.

Vinícius Had Another Message to Send

The Brazilian’s celebration did not stop with the emojis.

Vinícius also reacted to another Real Madrid post with an image of himself pointing to the 15 Champions League badge on the club’s shirt.

Coming immediately after a win at the home of their biggest rivals, the image inevitably carried extra meaning. Without writing a single word, Vinícius highlighted one of the biggest sources of pride in Real Madrid’s history.

Why Did Vinícius Miss El Clásico?

The Brazilian was unavailable because of the four-match suspension he received following his red card against Villarreal.

Vinícius was sent off after pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair and was also punished for his protests toward the referee. The disciplinary committee handed him two matches for each incident.

El Clásico was the second game of that suspension, meaning he still has two more matches to serve before he can return in LaLiga.

A Win That Puts Real Madrid Right Back in the Race

Vinícius’ reaction also makes sense when considering what the result meant.

Barcelona had won their first nine league matches and had the chance to move nine points clear of Madrid. The 2-1 result completely changed the picture, cutting the gap between the two sides to just three points.

And Mbappé was the difference-maker. The Frenchman opened the scoring in the 41st minute before Raphinha equalized, then struck again three minutes from time to decide the first Clásico of the season.

Vinícius had to watch it all from the outside. But once it was over, he found his own way to celebrate.
