Total Concern at Barcelona: Pedri’s Injury Is Worse Than Expected
Once again, injuries hit FC Barcelona hard. Pedri González is out of action and will be sidelined for more than a month.
A New Blow for Pedri and Barcelona
The injury nightmare continues at Can Barça. The club has confirmed that Pedri González suffered a distal femoral biceps tear in his left leg — an injury that will keep him out for over a month. The setback comes right after his red card in El Clásico against Real Madrid, where he was sent off with a second yellow in the final minutes.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Canary Islander will remain sidelined until well into December. He will miss not only the upcoming match against Elche — for which he was already suspended — but also games versus Club Brugge, Celta Vigo, Athletic Club, Chelsea, Alavés, and likely Atlético Madrid on December 2, one of the toughest fixtures before the Christmas break.
Eight Injuries and a Team in Pieces
With this new setback, Barcelona’s injury list has grown to eight players. Alongside Pedri, the absentees include Lewandowski, Raphinha, Olmo, Joan García, Christensen, Gavi, and Ter Stegen.
The only positive news for Hansi Flick is the imminent return of the Polish striker, who rejoined full training this week and could get minutes against Elche after missing three matches due to an injury with his national team.
Dani Olmo has also begun light training with the group, though the club won’t rush his comeback, while Joan García continues individual work following knee surgery. In midfield, Marc Casadó is expected to step in alongside Frenkie de Jong, with Eric García and Marc Bernal as additional options.
A New Challenge for Hansi Flick
Pedri’s absence is a serious blow to Flick’s system, just as the German coach had started to find balance in midfield. He’ll now have to rely on youth players and tactical flexibility to keep the team competitive during this crucial stretch of the season.
Meanwhile, Pedri faces yet another race against time — fighting for a full recovery that can finally put an end to the injury curse that has haunted him for the past two years.
At Barcelona, concern is growing once again… and the light of Pedri’s brilliance dims, just when they needed it most.
