The Amount Real Madrid and Barcelona Will Have to Pay to Sign Gilberto Mora Has Been Revealed
Gilberto Mora: The Mexican Wonderkid Turning Heads
Gilberto Mora has officially established himself as one of Mexico’s brightest young talents following his standout performance at the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile, where El Tri reached the quarterfinals before bowing out.
Still only 17 years old, the Tijuana midfielder impressed scouts and fans alike by holding his own — and often outshining — older opponents, making his name known on a truly global stage.
European Giants Take Notice
Aware of the gem they have on their hands, Xolos de Tijuana are already preparing for what could be a historic transfer, as top European clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring his progress closely.
How Much Is Gilberto Mora Worth?
According to Alejandro de la Rosa of TUDN, the Tijuana front office has placed a $30 million (≈€26 million) price tag on the young star — for only a percentage of his rights. The Mexican club reportedly intends to retain part of his ownership for a potential future transfer.
If a deal at that valuation goes through, it would mark a record-breaking sale for Liga MX, surpassing the roughly €20 million Sporting CP paid for Maxi Araujo (from Toluca) just over a year ago.
Recovery and Playoff Push
Mora is currently recovering from hand surgery after suffering a fracture that will keep him out for the remainder of the Apertura 2025 regular season.
Despite his absence, Xolos have already secured a spot in the Play-In and are hoping to climb to seventh or eighth place in the table — they currently sit ninth with 21 points — to earn at least two shots at reaching the Liguilla. They’ll close the regular season at home against Atlas.
