Sevilla rejects Sergio Ramos takeover after changes to the offer and breaks off what seemed to be a progressing deal
Sevilla’s potential takeover by Sergio Ramos collapsed unexpectedly. The club rejected a new proposal from the former player after concluding that it drastically altered the previously agreed terms.
A deal that looked historic
The possibility of seeing Sergio Ramos become Sevilla owner has been virtually ruled out after the club decided to break off negotiations for the sale of the institution. What appeared destined to become a historic operation ultimately became entangled in disagreements and growing distrust between the parties involved.
For weeks, the former Real Madrid defender’s camp had been working alongside investment group Five Eleven Capital to acquire a majority stake in the Andalusian club, in negotiations that had generated enormous excitement among Sevilla supporters.
The offer that changed everything
The breaking point came when, according to various reports, the initial proposal was significantly modified. The deal had originally involved figures close to €450 million, but the newly submitted offer dramatically reduced the financial scope of the agreement.
Sevilla shareholders interpreted the move as an attempt to gain control of the club under conditions different from those previously agreed upon, causing a major breakdown in trust between both sides.
Some reports indicate that the proposal shifted from the originally agreed majority acquisition to a much smaller structure accompanied by a future capital increase.

Sevilla cuts off negotiations
The club’s reaction was immediate. From the shareholders’ side, the negotiations were considered “broken” and any continuation of talks under the terms proposed by Ramos and his partners was ruled out.
Sevilla considers it a priority to stabilize its sporting and institutional project ahead of next season and is already evaluating alternative investment options and potential buyers.
The collapse of the talks also leaves a sense of uncertainty within an institution that has been facing difficult months both on and off the pitch.
An unexpected ending for Ramos and Sevilla
The story had all the ingredients to become one of the most remarkable developments in Spanish football: a homegrown star and Sevilla legend returning to help shape the club’s future from the boardroom. However, the outcome turned out to be very different.
For now, Sergio Ramos is out of the operation and Sevilla will continue searching for solutions to a project that still faces significant challenges. What once looked like a historic reconciliation ultimately became a failed negotiation that shook Spanish football.
