Arsenal Ready To Break Wage Structure for Vinícius Jr. If Real Madrid Talks Collapse
The Gunners are reportedly prepared to shatter their wage structure to sign the Brazilian star should contract negotiations with Real Madrid fail.
Arsenal is closely monitoring Vinícius Júnior's contract situation at Real Madrid and is prepared to make one of the biggest moves in club history if the Brazilian fails to agree to a new deal.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal's hierarchy has already approved the financial commitment required to pursue the winger, even if it means breaking the club's long-standing wage structure.
Vinícius has entered the final year of his current contract at the Santiago Bernabéu, increasing speculation about his long-term future. While Real Madrid remains in negotiations over an extension, talks have reportedly stalled because of significant financial differences.
The biggest obstacle is believed to be the Brazilian's salary demands. Reports indicate that Vinícius is seeking a compensation package worth around €30 million per year, including his base salary, performance bonuses, and an unprecedented renewal bonus.
Those demands are reportedly tied to comparisons with teammate Kylian Mbappé, whose arrival significantly raised Real Madrid's salary ceiling. Club executives are reluctant to match those figures, fearing it could trigger similar demands from other stars during future contract negotiations.
Although no personal agreement has been reached between Vinícius and Arsenal, the report states that negotiating personal terms would not be an issue if the Brazilian decides to leave Madrid. For now, Arsenal remains in a waiting position, ready to act should renewal talks between Vinícius and Real Madrid ultimately break down.
