Robert Lewandowski Returns to Barcelona Training After Recovering From Injury
After the heartbreak of El Clásico, Barcelona finally had a reason to smile: Robert Lewandowski is back training with the team and could make his long-awaited return soon.
A Much-Needed Boost for Barcelona
After the painful 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in El Clásico, FC Barcelona received a long-awaited dose of optimism. During Monday’s training session at the Ciutat Esportiva, Robert Lewandowski rejoined the group, bringing a sense of relief to a squad still processing the disappointment from the Bernabéu.
The Polish striker completed the full session alongside the players who did not start the Clásico, showing significant progress in his recovery. He has been sidelined since suffering a left hamstring injury while on international duty with Poland earlier this month — an incident that caused frustration both in the club and among fans.
A Controversial Injury
Lewandowski’s injury stirred controversy at the time. Despite feeling discomfort early in the match, he played all 90 minutes for his national team with a heavy bandage wrapped around his thigh. The decision worsened the injury and kept him out of action for several weeks, forcing Hansi Flick to reshuffle his attack and rely on players like Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal in key moments.
Since then, the 35-year-old striker has focused on a complete recovery, following a specific training plan to avoid any recurrence. Barcelona’s medical staff remains cautious after the recent setback suffered by Raphinha, who relapsed after returning prematurely before the Clásico.
Eyeing the Elche Game
If his progress continues as expected, Lewandowski could be included in the squad for Sunday’s league match against Elche at the Lluís Companys Stadium (6:30 PM local time). His return would be a major boost for Hansi Flick, who needs his main striker firing again as Barça looks to close the six-point gap to Real Madrid.
Beyond his goals, Lewandowski’s leadership and presence are essential in lifting the team’s morale after a turbulent few weeks. For Barcelona fans, seeing their No. 9 back on the pitch would feel like the first step toward redemption — and perhaps, the start of another climb toward the top of LaLiga.
