Renewal or Departure? Robert Lewandowski Takes the First Step Toward His Future
Robert Lewandowski has turned down Fenerbahçe’s offer to leave in the winter, leaving his future completely open. Barcelona waits, Milan lurks, and Europe watches closely as the Polish striker prepares his final decision.
Lewandowski rejects Turkey and heats up the European transfer market
Robert Lewandowski’s future has once again become one of the biggest topics in European football. The 37-year-old striker, a key piece for FC Barcelona, has made his first major decision ahead of the upcoming transfer window: rejecting an offer from Fenerbahçe, who wanted to bring him in immediately this winter. The Polish star’s response not only rules out a major move to the Turkish league, but also reopens the debate over which path he will take in the final stage of his career.
Lewandowski, whose contract with Barça runs until June 30, 2026, has repeatedly said he is in no rush to renew. His message: “I will soon be ready to decide which path I want to take,” leaves everything in suspense as clubs across Europe continue to monitor his situation.
The Turkish offer and the striker’s first “no”
There was excitement in Turkey. Fenerbahçe prepared a powerful offer: a one-and-a-half-season deal keeping him under contract through 2027, along with the chance to lead an ambitious European project. However, according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the striker was clear: he wants to stay in Barcelona at least until the summer, with no plans to leave the club in January.
The rejection is significant. In a winter market where elite strikers are scarce, Lewandowski was seen as one of the biggest opportunities. His refusal knocks Fenerbahçe out of the race and triggers a domino effect across Europe.
Milan stays in the shadows… but very alert
While Turkey is now off the table, the situation is different in Italy. AC Milan, according to multiple reports, sees Lewandowski as a realistic target for next summer, a moment when he could potentially arrive as a free agent if Barça fails to secure a renewal.
The Rossoneri value his experience, leadership, and the possibility of signing him without paying a transfer fee. The door is far from closed, and in Italy, Lewy’s “no” to Fenerbahçe is viewed as a sign that he wants to consider options that allow him to stay competitive in Europe.
An open ending: Barcelona waits, Europe pushes
Within Barcelona, the player’s current stance raises uncertainty. Although Lewandowski has reiterated that he feels comfortable at the club, he is asking for time. He wants to finish the season, evaluate his performance, the sporting project, and his role in the squad before committing to any long-term decision.
Meanwhile, in his public appearances, the striker continues to tease what’s next — insisting that he is close to choosing: “I will see what my options are,” he recently told Polish television.
The feeling is clear: the final big move of his career may be taking shape. A renewal with Barcelona? A move to Italy? One last adventure in Europe before retirement? What’s certain is that Lewandowski has left the door wide open… and the transfer market is ready to explode.
