Álvaro Arbeloa Appointed as Real Madrid First Team Coach After Xabi Alonso’s Departure
Real Madrid CF has announced that Álvaro Arbeloa, current coach of Real Madrid Castilla, has been chosen by the club’s management to take over the first team following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, just one day after Real Madrid’s loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa de España final.
"Real Madrid CF announces that Álvaro Arbeloa is the new first team coach," the club stated in an official release.
Arbeloa had been in charge of Real Madrid Castilla since June 2025, taking over from Raúl González, and his entire coaching career has been developed within Real Madrid’s youth academy, starting in the 2020/21 season with the Infantil A team.
