Raúl González’s Advice to Lamine Yamal Ahead of El Clásico
The Real Madrid legend broke his silence on Lamine Yamal, Barça’s young prodigy, leaving him a piece of advice filled with experience.
Raúl Praises Lamine Yamal
Raúl González Blanco, former player and legend of Real Madrid, spoke openly about Lamine Yamal, the FC Barcelona wonderkid who continues to amaze the football world at just 18 years old. During his appearance at Desafío Nacex, a charity padel tournament, Raúl acknowledged the young winger’s talent and placed him among the most promising players on the planet.
“He’s a great player who’s breaking many barriers and doing things on the pitch that very few have done,” said the former striker, who played 741 official matches for Real Madrid between 1994 and 2010. “He’s very young, and now he needs to consolidate everything he’s been achieving. I believe he can be a very important player for his club and also for the Spanish national team,” he added.
Eyes on El Clásico
Raúl also analyzed the upcoming El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, scheduled for October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu. For him, form matters little when it comes to this kind of encounter: “A Clásico is always special. I think Real Madrid, playing at home and with their fans behind them, are slightly more favored, but they’ll be facing a great team,” he pointed out.
The former Madrid captain, an eternal symbol of the club, recognized Barça’s growth under Hansi Flick and didn’t hesitate to praise their young sensation, who could become one of the main stars of the match.
On Courtois and Casillas
Raúl was also asked about Thibaut Courtois, who is still recovering from injury. He refused to compare him with Iker Casillas, but showed admiration for both: “Casillas is Casillas — he’s a Real Madrid legend. Courtois is doing very well, achieving great things, and in the end, time will put each one in their rightful place.”
The former striker wrapped up his remarks with his usual calm demeanor, making it clear that his heart remains with the club of his life — while also keeping an eye on the bright future of Lamine Yamal, the youngster who’s breaking every limit.
