Poland Coach Puzzled by Robert Lewandowski’s Injury: “I Don’t Understand It”
The Polish national team coach has sparked confusion in Barcelona after questioning the diagnosis of Robert Lewandowski’s injury.
Poland’s Coach Raises Eyebrows
The FIFA virus has struck FC Barcelona once again. Following injuries to Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres, the club confirmed that Robert Lewandowski suffered a muscle strain in his left hamstring. But Jan Urban, coach of the Polish national team, doesn’t quite buy the diagnosis.
Speaking to Catalunya Ràdio, Urban admitted his surprise: “For me, a muscle tear doesn’t allow you to run at full speed. We all know that in football. I don’t understand it.” The coach emphasized that Lewandowski was in perfect shape during the team’s recent training camp.
A Confusing Agreement
Urban explained that he, Lewandowski, and the medical staff had agreed that the player would come off if he felt any discomfort. The Barcelona striker sat out the friendly against New Zealand, but then played all 90 minutes against Lithuania, even scoring a goal.
“Yes, he said he felt something, but he played without any issues until the end,” Urban added. “He wasn’t injured at all. We simply decided to rest him in the first game to give minutes to other players.”
His words contradict Barcelona’s medical report, which confirmed the injury after the striker’s return to Spain — an issue that could potentially keep him out of El Clásico.
Doubts Before El Clásico
Despite his skepticism, Jan Urban ended on a note of caution: “When there are so many matches, it’s not worth risking a player’s health.”
In Barcelona, though, alarm bells are ringing. Lewandowski faces a race against time to recover before facing Real Madrid, and the mixed messages from Poland have only deepened the uncertainty. Between medical reports, missed training sessions, and public confusion, one thing is clear — no one truly knows how serious the injury is.
