New Scandal: Vinícius Jr. Faces Legal Action in Brazil Over Birthday Party
Vinícius Júnior, the Real Madrid forward, is once again in the spotlight — this time off the pitch. The Brazilian star has been formally charged by local authorities in his home country following a complaint for “disturbing the peace” after hosting an extravagant 25th birthday celebration in Rio de Janeiro.
What are the accusations against Vinícius?
The case is being handled by the 9th Special Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, which deals with minor offenses. According to the complaint, a neighbor living near the event venue accused the footballer of causing excessive noise between July 19 and the early hours of July 21, disrupting the peace of the residential area.
Police reports state that military officers responded to multiple complaints, confirmed the high volume of the music, and instructed the organizers to lower it. However, once the officers left, the sound allegedly returned to “extremely high levels,” as detailed in the neighbor’s statement.
Inside the party that caused the controversy
The celebration reportedly took place at a luxury estate known for hosting weddings and corporate events. According to local media, nearly 500 guests attended — including Eduardo Camavinga, Vinícius’ Real Madrid teammate, and Brazilian pop star Anitta.
The party featured live performances, fireworks, and even amusement park–style attractions. One of the most talked-about moments came when rapper Travis Scott performed, turning the birthday bash into what many described as a “private festival” honoring the Brazilian forward.
What penalties could he face?
The Rio de Janeiro State Judiciary confirmed that a preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 6. Under Brazilian law, this type of misdemeanor can carry a sentence ranging from 15 days to three months in jail, or a fine.
While a severe punishment is unlikely, the incident adds another off-field controversy to Vinícius’ record — one that keeps him under intense media scrutiny back home.
For now, the Real Madrid winger remains focused on his season in Spain, but the legal proceedings in Brazil ensure that his name will continue making headlines for reasons far beyond football.
