Marcus Rashford Will Not Be Able to Return to Manchester United Despite the Departure of Rúben Amorim
Rashford’s return to United is practically ruled out
Marcus Rashford’s future appears to be drifting further and further away from Manchester United. Despite the recent dismissal of Ruben Amorim, the English forward has little chance of returning to Old Trafford, as his move to Barcelona was not a decision made by the Portuguese coach, but rather a measure taken directly by the club’s hierarchy.
Strong performances at Barcelona
Rashford joined Barça on loan last summer, and his spell in Spanish football has been positive. So far, he has been directly involved in 18 goals across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing eleven assists. However, his attacking impact has dipped in recent weeks, as in his last six LaLiga appearances he has contributed only one assist.
According to The Sun, the forward is not considering an immediate return to England, especially with the January transfer window in mind. The same source also claims that other high-profile United loans, such as those of Rasmus Højlund, André Onana and Jadon Sancho, were likewise decisions driven by the club’s board rather than by the now-dismissed Amorim.

Rashford wants to stay at Barça
Rashford himself has made it clear that his wish is to continue at Barcelona if circumstances allow, with the ambition of adding more trophies to his professional career.
“My intention is to stay at Barça. It’s the ideal destination, although that’s not the only reason why I work hard every day. I’m here to win. This is a huge club, with a winning mentality,” the forward stated.
Speaking about his adaptation to the city and the team, he added:
“From the very first day I felt very comfortable, both at the club and in the city. The welcome was excellent.”
He also highlighted the level of demand at the Blaugrana club:
“There is pressure here, but it’s positive pressure—the kind every footballer wants. I need to be in an environment where the highest standards are demanded; in places without big expectations, it’s harder for me to stay motivated.”
