Marcus Rashford’s Concerning Statement Ahead of El Clásico: “We’re Not at Our Best Right Now”
Just days before the highly anticipated Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, English forward Marcus Rashford raised some concern among Barça fans with candid remarks about the team’s current form. While acknowledging that the Blaugrana are going through an inconsistent phase, he also emphasized that they remain in a solid position in LaLiga EA Sports.
“We’re not at our best right now, but we’re in a good position. We have to keep working to show our best version. If we do that, we’re one of the best teams in the world,” said the striker in an interview published on Barcelona’s official YouTube channel.
A Reality Check Before El Clásico
Rashford’s words come at a crucial moment. Hansi Flick’s side recently thrashed Olympiacos 6–1 in European competition, a result that, according to the player, helped the team regain some of its lost confidence. “We want to keep a positive mindset, and there was no better way to do that than by winning and scoring lots of goals,” said the Englishman, who has begun adapting to the German coach’s system.
The player, on loan from Manchester United, also highlighted his manager’s demanding approach: “Hansi Flick always asks us to give our maximum; he doesn’t allow any relaxation. He’s very focused on intensity and teamwork.” Despite recent positive results, Rashford admitted that the team is still searching for peak form ahead of their showdown with their eternal rival.
His First Clásico and the Dream of Making History
The English international, now in his first season with Barcelona, couldn’t hide his excitement about playing in “the biggest game in football.” With five goals and six assists in twelve matches, he’s enjoying strong individual form, though he admits there’s room for improvement. “This team is fantastic. I just need to position myself better in the box and make the right decisions,” he said humbly.

Next Sunday’s Clásico will be a major test for both Rashford and Hansi Flick’s project. The doubts surrounding the team’s overall consistency contrast with the Englishman’s attacking talent, as he looks to make his mark in a match that always transcends football itself.
Barcelona will need their very best version to stay in the title race, and Rashford knows it: self-criticism might just be the first step toward a great night at the Santiago Bernabéu.
