Marcus Rashford Hopes This Won’t Be His First and Last Trophy With Barcelona
“Marcus Rashford: ‘I hope it’s not my last trophy!’ – First title with Barcelona and his future away from Manchester United”
Rashford celebrates his first Barça title
Rashford’s transformation, from being sidelined at Manchester United to becoming a champion with Barcelona, is now a reality. The 28-year-old forward shone in Saudi Arabia, helping his team secure an exciting 3-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Sunday was a historic moment for him, having joined Barcelona on a season-long loan after falling out of Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford. While United navigates a chaotic period following Amorim’s dismissal, Rashford appeared relaxed and happy in Jeddah, celebrating his first trophy with Barcelona alongside other summer signings such as Joan Garcia and Roony Bardghji.
After the match, Rashford spoke to the club’s media and didn’t hide his happiness:
“I’m very happy. It’s always amazing to win your first trophy with a club,” he said. “I hope we can win many more over the rest of the season.”
He added: “We played a great game today. There are still things to improve, as always, but we can enjoy this performance.”
Although he could return to Manchester United following Amorim’s departure, Rashford, who has already scored seven goals for Barcelona, has made it clear that he wants to stay at Camp Nou long-term. Additionally, according to reports, the club is looking to turn his loan into a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
After winning the title, he was asked if this would be his first and last trophy with Barcelona, to which he replied: “I hope not!”
The forward also shared his feelings about the club: “I feel really good here. When we win, everything becomes easier, but even in difficult moments, we stick together as a team. For me, it’s perfect. I’m enjoying every moment of my time at Barcelona.”
