Marcus Rashford finds another way to stay at Barcelona
Rashford shifts roles… and delivers. The English forward opens a new path in Barça’s attack.
A new option taking shape
Marcus Rashford once again proved decisive for FC Barcelona, this time from a less familiar role. The English forward came off the bench against Osasuna and changed the tempo of the match from the right flank.
In the 2-1 win at El Sadar, Rashford provided the assist for Robert Lewandowski to open the scoring, confirming his ability to influence the game beyond his usual position.
A positional shift that opens doors
The 28-year-old has built his career primarily as a left winger. From that side, his right-footed profile allows him to cut inside and take advantage of his powerful shooting.
However, his recent performances on the right offer a new tactical solution for Hansi Flick, especially with Lamine Yamal sidelined from that position.
Not an entirely new role
Rashford’s ability to perform across different attacking roles is not new.
During the 2022-23 season with Manchester United, he played a key role against Barcelona in the Europa League after switching flanks mid-game, contributing directly to two goals at Camp Nou.
More attacking solutions for Barça
The inconsistency shown by Roony Bardghji against tight marking has increased the chances of Rashford taking on a more regular role on the right wing.
With the Clásico on May 10 approaching, his versatility becomes a valuable asset within Barcelona’s attacking system.
A key factor in his future
Rashford’s numbers support his impact: 13 goals and 14 assists this season place him among the most productive players in the squad.
With his future still dependent on a complex deal involving Manchester United, his ability to adapt to multiple attacking roles could play a significant role in the club’s final decision.
