FC Barcelona have made another move for Rodri Hernández, but the response from England remains unchanged. Manchester City have rejected a new offer for the Spanish midfielder and continue to stand firm on the price they want to receive before allowing him to leave.

According to The Times, Barça significantly improved their initial bid. After previously putting around €45 million plus add-ons on the table, the new proposal is reportedly worth between €55 million and €60 million guaranteed, with bonuses potentially taking the total package to approximately €65 million.

For City, it is still not enough.

The English club want between €70 million and €80 million guaranteed for one of their most important players.

Barcelona Continue Their Push for Rodri

There is one element in the negotiations that could work in the Catalan club’s favor: Rodri is under contract with Manchester City until 2027.

That means time is beginning to become an important factor for all parties. If there is no contract extension, City’s ability to receive a significant transfer fee for the Spaniard will decrease as he moves closer to the end of his deal.

According to reports in England, Rodri has already given the green light to the possibility of joining Barcelona, while the Catalan club continue to search for a formula that can bring the two sides closer financially.

The midfielder is due to return to training following his post-World Cup vacation, while his future remains unresolved.

City Need Money to Move for Enzo Fernández

Behind Manchester City’s position is another major potential transfer.

The Times has linked City’s financial demands for Rodri with the club’s interest in Enzo Fernández.

Chelsea are reportedly demanding around £120 million, approximately €140 million, to allow the Argentine midfielder to leave. It is a huge figure that would force City to generate additional funds if they are serious about completing the deal.

For that reason, selling Rodri for a significant fee could become an important piece of the English club’s transfer plans.

The problem is that time is also working against City.

Negotiations Beginning to Heat Up

Barcelona have already made two moves and, so far, neither has been enough to change City’s position.

There is a risk for Manchester City: maintaining such a high valuation could eventually push Barça away and leave the club with a player who has reportedly shown interest in moving elsewhere.

For the Catalans, the situation is not simple either.

If Rodri Hernández has truly decided to back the Barcelona project, the club must now determine how far it is prepared to go financially to try to complete his signing.
