Lamine Yamal Sends a Strong Hint Was It to Nico Williams for Not Signing for Barcelona?
Lamine Yamal is once again making headlines this time not for a moment of brilliance on the pitch, but for a post on his Instagram that has sparked widespread speculation. The young FC Barcelona star shared a story featuring lyrics by rapper Morad, instantly catching the attention of his more than 36 million followers.
The message that lit the fuse
The lyrics Yamal chose were powerful and pointed:
“I earned what’s mine and never had to ask anyone. I didn’t even have to lower myself. I’ve helped my people, I’m still in the streets tell me who the hell is going to take it away from me.”
A strong, no-nonsense message that many have interpreted as a very direct indirect. But who was it aimed at? According to several reports, the target may have been none other than Nico Williams.

Frustration with Nico Williams?
On Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, journalist José Álvarez Haya strongly suggested that the message could have been a dig at the Athletic Club winger. The reason? Nico had reportedly expressed interest in joining Barça and even spoke with players in the dressing room, including Lamine himself. Everything seemed to be on track for a move.
But things took a sharp turn Nico renewed with Athletic, and the Barça players only found out through a tweet from the Basque club. No heads-up, no goodbyes.
Morad: not a random choice
The choice of artist wasn’t coincidental. Morad and Yamal share roots in La Florida, a humble neighborhood in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. They’re both products of their streets raw, authentic, and proud. The lyrics, given the timing, seem far from accidental.
“I earned what’s mine without begging, without humiliating myself.”
Was Yamal drawing a line between himself and Nico saying he doesn’t plead, and he doesn't disappear when things get tough?
Social media erupts
Fans were quick to react. Some saw it as a classy jab at Nico Williams, others viewed it as a mere reflection. But the general consensus was clear: this wasn’t just a random post.
A fracture or just a misunderstanding?
Lamine and Nico had shown chemistry both on and off the pitch, especially during the Euros. That’s why this perceived indirect caught many off guard.
Is Yamal disappointed? It certainly seems that way. Is it a full-blown fallout? Too soon to tell.
Despite his young age, Yamal is mature beyond his years. He knows how to say a lot without saying much and this post is proof.
Meanwhile, Barça continues to search for reinforcements in the transfer window. Officially, Nico Williams is no longer on their shortlist, but this story might not be over yet. If there was a betrayal, Lamine has already made his feelings clear his way.
