Lamine Yamal’s Mural Vandalized in Barcelona: This Is How It Looks Now
Tribute or mockery? Lamine Yamal’s mural didn’t even last a month What was meant to celebrate the Barça star's rise to greatness has now turned into controversy — just when his image is under more scrutiny than ever.
The mural of Lamine Yamal in Barcelona, painted by renowned street artist TV Boy to celebrate the FC Barcelona star’s 18th birthday, has been vandalized. The artwork, located in Plaça Joanic in the Gràcia neighborhood, depicted the young talent with an 'L' on his chest, Superman-style… but it didn’t remain untouched for long.
Just weeks after it was unveiled, another street artist stepped in. Shredder altered the mural by adding the seven dwarfs from Snow White, a clear reference to the presence of people with achondroplasia at Yamal’s controversial birthday party.
A summer full of controversy
This isn’t the first time Lamine Yamal has stirred public debate in recent weeks. His lavish birthday celebration, filled with extravagant details, raised eyebrows and criticism across social media.
On top of that, some of his recent comments have been labeled as arrogant, and his LeBron James-style goal celebration also sparked heated discussions. For a player hailed as the future of Barcelona, Yamal’s summer has been anything but quiet.
Who's behind the act?
The person behind the mural intervention is Shredder, a fellow urban artist who proudly signed his name on TV Boy’s original piece. The act was first revealed by journalist Edu Polo, who shared an image of the altered mural with the caption: “Some ‘joker’ has ruined the Lamine Yamal mural in Joanic… This time it’s not fake or AI-generated. Just took the photo myself.”
